HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 23

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences on the death of retired Lieutenant Colonel Jim
M. Taylor
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Jim M.
3 Taylor, retired United States Air Force lieutenant colonel.
4 WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives were saddened to learn
5of the death on April 23, 2018, of Jim M. Taylor, lieutenant colonel, retired, United States
6Air Force; he was seventy-one years old; and
7 WHEREAS, Jim Taylor earned a bachelor's degree from Sul Ross State University
8and a master's degree from Texas Christian University; he served twenty-two years in the
9United States Air Force, and during his long military career, he was assigned from the office
10of the Air Force Inspector General as a B-52 radar navigator and instructor in the Lockheed
11Martin Aeronautics TR-1/U-2 aircraft; he retired from military service in 1992; and
12 WHEREAS, after his Air Force retirement, Jim Taylor worked in the Caddo public
13school system, where he was a history teacher until 2008; Jim enjoyed fishing and hunting;
14and
15 WHEREAS, Jim leaves a legacy of humor and fond memories of a life well lived to
16his wife of forty-six years, Shelly; their daughter, Heather Watkins, and her husband Jeff;
17their son, Wes, and his wife Annette; and his granddaughters and nephews.
18 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
19Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express deepest sympathies and sincere condolences
20to the family of Jim M. Taylor and does hereby offer best wishes and hopes for comfort to
21those who mourn his passing.
