HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 234
BY REPRESENTATIVES MACK, HODGES, POPE, AND SCHEXNAYDER
COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Holden High School softball team on winning the
2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B state championship
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Holden High School softball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High
3 School Athletic Association Class B state championship.
4 WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, the Holden High School softball team
5completed its sensational 2019 season and earned the title of Louisiana High School Athletic
6Association Class B state champions at Frasch Park in Sulphur; and
7 WHEREAS, the Holden Rockets' win over Forest High School came after nine
8Holden runners had been stranded on base through five innings; a sixth-inning rally sparked
9by eighth grader Kamrynn Ouber and junior Ashley Fogg led to the 5-1 victory and marked
10the school's third straight state softball title; and
11 WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets finished their season with a wins-losses record of 29-
125; Holden pitcher Olivia Lackie was named the tournament's Outstanding Player for the third
13consecutive year, and in the championship game, Olivia pitched a one-hitter of ten strikeouts
14with only one walk; and
15 WHEREAS, the distinguished performances of the athletes on Holden High School's
16softball team throughout the regular season and the postseason have earned them the coveted
172019 Class B state championship title; and
18 WHEREAS, each of the Lady Rockets performed at the highest level of excellence
19throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital contributions to
20the winning effort:  juniors Ashley Fogg, Emma Hutchinson, and Olivia Lackie; sophomores
21Taylor Barfield, Olivia Barnes, and Aubrey Haltom; eighth graders Emmaleigh Bertrand,

1Kacey Breithaupt, Taylor Douglas, Gracie Duffy, Madison McDonald, Kamrynn Ouber, and
2Emma Wilson; and seventh grader Anna Hutchinson; and
3 WHEREAS, the Rockets' accomplishments during this unforgettable season would
4not have been possible without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Linzey Cifreo
5Bowers, assistant coaches Aaron Carlton and Craig Forbes; Manager Molly Collins; and all
6of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's softball program;
7and
8 WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
9Rockets, and all Holden High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
10distinguished honor that the team brings to its school and community.
11 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
12Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Holden High School softball team upon
13winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B state championship
14and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this
15fine softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued
16success in the future.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Head
18Coach Linzey Cifreo Bowers.
