HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 234
BY REPRESENTATIVES MACK, HODGES, POPE, AND SCHEXNAYDER
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Holden High School softball team upon winning the 2019 Louisiana High
School Athletic Association Class B state championship.
WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, the Holden High School softball team
completed its sensational 2019 season and earned the title of Louisiana High School Athletic
Association Class B state champions at Frasch Park in Sulphur; and
WHEREAS, the Holden Rockets' win over Forest High School came after nine
Holden runners had been stranded on base through five innings; a sixth-inning rally sparked
by eighth grader Kamrynn Ouber and junior Ashley Fogg led to the 5-1 victory and marked
the school's third straight state softball title; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Rockets finished their season with a wins-losses record of 29-
5; Holden pitcher Olivia Lackie was named the tournament's Outstanding Player for the third
consecutive year, and in the championship game, Olivia pitched a one-hitter of ten strikeouts
with only one walk; and
WHEREAS, the distinguished performances of the athletes on Holden High School's
softball team throughout the regular season and the postseason have earned them the coveted
2019 Class B state championship title; and
WHEREAS, each of the Lady Rockets performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the season and playoffs and deserves recognition for her vital contributions to
the winning effort:  juniors Ashley Fogg, Emma Hutchinson, and Olivia Lackie; sophomores
Taylor Barfield, Olivia Barnes, and Aubrey Haltom; eighth graders Emmaleigh Bertrand,
Kacey Breithaupt, Taylor Douglas, Gracie Duffy, Madison McDonald, Kamrynn Ouber, and
Emma Wilson; and seventh grader Anna Hutchinson; and

WHEREAS, the Rockets' accomplishments during this unforgettable season would
not have been possible without the guidance and skills of Head Coach Linzey Cifreo
Bowers, assistant coaches Aaron Carlton and Craig Forbes; Manager Molly Collins; and all
of the other individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's softball program;
and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Rockets, and all Holden High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school and community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Holden High School softball team upon
winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class B state championship
and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this
fine softball program as they celebrate their exceptional season and prepare for continued
success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Head
Coach Linzey Cifreo Bowers.
