COMMENDATIONS: Commends and expresses appreciation to the Honorable J. Rogers
Pope for his outstanding legislative service and recognizes his contributions to his
district and the state
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Honorable J. Rogers Pope and to express enduring gratitude for his
3 outstanding contributions to Livingston Parish and the state of Louisiana, particularly
4 during his tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana House of
5 Representatives.
6 WHEREAS, J. Rogers Pope is a notable public servant who has served with
7excellence as a state representative since taking office in 2008, during which time he has
8fully used every opportunity to serve the citizens of District No. 71 and the state in an
9honorable and dedicated manner; and
10 WHEREAS, Representative Pope received a masters plus thirty in education from
11the University of Southeastern Louisiana; and
12 WHEREAS, Representative Pope has been a proud member of the Capital Region
13and Republican Delegations and the Rural Caucus; and
14 WHEREAS, Representative Pope's diligent committee service has included serving
15as a member of the House Committee on Appropriations, the House Committee on
16Education, the House Committee on Health and Welfare, the House Committee on House
17and Governmental Affairs, the House Committee on Retirement, the House Committee on
18Transportation, Highways and Public Works, and the Joint Legislative Committee on the
19Budget; and

1 WHEREAS, during his time in the House of Representatives, Representative Pope
2has authored and supported many important pieces of legislation; and
3 WHEREAS, J. Rogers Pope will forever have a special place in the chronicles of the
4history of Louisiana, for he is one of Louisiana's most outstanding public servants; and
5 WHEREAS, as he prepares to embark on the next exciting and productive chapter
6of his life, Representative Pope merits a sincere measure of commendation for his singular
7contributions and the exemplary strides he has taken as an exceptional member of the
8Louisiana House of Representatives.
9 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
10Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Honorable J. Rogers Pope; does hereby
11extend honor and recognition to him for his outstanding accomplishments, particularly
12during his tenure as a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, which has been
13marked by his uncompromising endeavor to improve the welfare of his constituents in
14Livingston Parish and the citizens of the state of Louisiana; and does hereby pay tribute to
15him for the generous and effective way in which he has dedicated his intelligence and his
16energy to the service of his family, friends, community, and state.
17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Louisiana House of Representatives hereby
18expresses enduring gratitude to Representative Pope for his service to the citizens of
19Louisiana, as evidenced by his superlative achievements as a member of this distinguished
20body, and does hereby extend to him the best wishes of all his colleagues for continued
21prosperity and success in his future endeavors.
22 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
23Honorable J. Rogers Pope.
