HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 253

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences on the death of Paulette Arlene Williams
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives on the death of Paulette Arlene
3 Williams.
4 WHEREAS, the members of the House of Representatives were saddened to learn
5of the death of Paulette Arlene Williams, on April 22, 2019, at the age of sixty-two; and
6 WHEREAS, born in New Orleans on November 6, 1956, to Reverend Dr. Howard
7L. Williams and Delores S. Williams, Paulette graduated from Peabody High School in
8Rapides Parish and earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and several
9certificates in special education; she furthered her education at Northwestern State
10University where she earned a master's plus thirty; and
11 WHEREAS, on May 4, 1985, Paulette was united in holy matrimony to Scott E.
12Perry; they were blessed with two beautiful daughters; and
13 WHEREAS, Paulette was employed by the Allen Parish school system as a special
14education teacher and was promoted to special education supervisor; and
15 WHEREAS, after a commendable career in shaping the minds of the youth of Allen
16Parish, Paulette retired after thirty-four years and subsequently began consulting for the
17school system; and
18 WHEREAS, Paulette was active in several organizations including the National
19Education Association, Peabody Alumni, Grambling Alumni; she was local president of the
20National Auxiliary of University Women and president of the Deerfield Association; and

1 WHEREAS, Paulette accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized by her father
2at True Vine Missionary Baptist Church, where she continued her service until the time of
3her transition; as a child, she was active in the youth junior choir and Sunshine Band; as an
4adult, she attended Sunday school, served as a vacation bible school teacher, and was a
5faithful member of the usher board until her health began to decline; and
6 WHEREAS, she leaves to mourn with loving memories: her devoted husband, Scott
7E. Perry; daughters, Tamesha Abram, and her husband Larry, and Kia Clifton, and her
8husband Will; grandchildren, Brayden and Bryce Abram and Kianna and Kiasia Clifton;
9sister Lynette Muse; mother- and father-in law, Doris and Scott Perry; and aunts, in-laws,
10godchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and
11 WHEREAS, after a life of educating the youth of Allen Parish, Paulette Williams
12answered the call of her Master depicted in scripture; it is fitting to herald the positive
13impact Paulette made upon the lives of many in Allen Parish, and with her passing,
14Louisiana mourns the loss of one of her finest daughters.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
16Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express its deepest and most sincere condolences upon
17the death of Paulette Arlene Williams; does hereby acknowledge her life's work with the
18youth of Allen Parish; and does hereby extend prayers and hopes for peace and comfort to
19those who remain.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
21family of Paulette Arlene Williams.
