COMMENDATIONS: Commends the St. Joseph's Academy outdoor track and field team
on winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state
championship
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the St. Joseph's Academy outdoor track and field team on winning the 2019
3 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state championship.
4 WHEREAS, during the 2018-2019 season, the members of the St. Joseph's Academy
5outdoor track and field team performed at the highest level of excellence; and
6 WHEREAS, on May 4, 2019, at Louisiana State University, the Redstickers made
7their case as the best overall team in Class 5A in the state of Louisiana; and
8 WHEREAS, the state outdoor title marks the first in the school's history; and
9 WHEREAS, the student athletes who represented the school at the state
10championship meet are worthy of mention: seniors Alexis Barbay, Catherine Couvillion,
11Lauren Hendry, Kayleigh Mims, and Taylor Winters; juniors Isabelle Brown, Julia
12Crawford, Virginia Dirks, Claire Holder, Sophie Kronenberger, Sydney LaFleur, and
13McKenna Ramsey; sophomores Olivia Cook, Sophie Martin, Ava Grace Moreau, Lydia
14Poche, and Alessandra Purnell; and freshmen Ava Dunn, Maddie Kate Gardiner, and Hannah
15Jones; and
16 WHEREAS, the accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved without
17the unwavering dedication, support, guidance, and skills of Coach Charlie Daigle; assistant
18coaches Tommy Dorion, Lauren Garrett, Mark LaHaye, and Maggie Poche; St. Joseph's
19Academy's administration, including President Jan Breen and Principal Stacia Andricain;

1athletic director Dorinda Beaumont; trainer Mackenzie Brown; strength and conditioning
2coach Liz Fontenot; and assistant to the athletic director Nan Murtagh; and
3 WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize the well-deserved title the team earned;
4to recognize the team members' abilities, particularly at the most difficult level of
5competition; and to express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the team members and
6coaching staff for the merits earned and the sportsmanship shown while achieving the
7highest state track and field honor possible for St. Joseph's Academy.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
9Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the St. Joseph's Academy outdoor track and
10field team on winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state
11championship; does hereby record for posterity this exceptional team's triumph in the sport
12of track and field; and does hereby extend best wishes to the players, coaches, and all those
13involved in the track and field program as they celebrate their championship season and
14prepare for continued athletic success and life accomplishments in the future.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to each
16member of the coaching staff of the outdoor track and field team and the athletic director,
17president, and principal of St. Joseph's Academy.
