COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni
Association, Inc., on its fifth annual Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame
Induction Ceremony and Banquet
1	A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association, Incorporated,
3 upon its fifth annual Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
4 and Banquet.
5 WHEREAS, it is fitting to commend the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni
6Association, Incorporated, a nonprofit organization, on its fifth annual Scotlandville High
7School Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony and Banquet, to be held on Saturday, August 17,
82019; and
9 WHEREAS, the esteemed Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association,
10Incorporated, was organized in 1999 with the admirable goal of strengthening ties and
11contacts between Scotlandville Magnet High School and its alumni; and
12 WHEREAS, the alumni association has directed its efforts to promoting a spirit of
13unity and camaraderie among alumni through communications, reunions, and social
14programs; and
15 WHEREAS, the alumni association actively supports student activities to diversify
16the educational experiences available at Scotlandville Magnet High School and other public
17schools by providing supplemental funding to both academic and athletic programs; and
18 WHEREAS, the 2019 inductees to the Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame are
191965 graduates Washington Cummings and Gerald Handy; 1966 graduates Kirk Clayton and
20Earnest Jackson; 1968 graduate Mildred S. Carrethers; and 1971 graduates Robert McKinnis

1and Donald Ruth, alumni of great distinction whose contributions to the Baton Rouge
2community have been innumerable and are worthy of  special acknowledgment; and
3 WHEREAS, the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association,
4Incorporated, has diligently worked to promote the identity and recognition of Scotlandville
5Magnet High School throughout the city of Baton Rouge and the state of Louisiana while
6encouraging fellowship and involvement within the greater Scotlandville community.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Scotlandville High School Hornets
9Alumni Association, Incorporated, for its prestigious work in the community and for
10honoring the distinguished alumni, faculty, and administrators of Scotlandville Magnet High
11School on the occasion of its fifth annual Scotlandville High School Hall of Fame Induction
12Ceremony and Banquet on August 17, 2019.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
14president of the Scotlandville High School Hornets Alumni Association.
