HLS 19RS-3433 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 302 BY REPRESENTATIVE MARCELLE COMMENDATIONS: Commends Brooke Battiste for her many academic accomplishments 1 A RESOLUTION 2To commend Brooke Battiste for her numerous academic accomplishments. 3 WHEREAS, Brooke Battiste graduated from Grambling State University with a 4bachelor of arts in political science; thereafter, she earned her juris doctor from Southern 5University; and 6 WHEREAS, Brooke's numerous leadership roles and accomplishments have 7contributed in many ways to the betterment of the communities on the Grambling and 8Southern campuses; her responsibilities have been numerous and she has gone above and 9beyond to get involved in her community and excel academically; and 10 WHEREAS, during her undergraduate years at Grambling, she was a member of the 112014 White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, a program that 12recognizes undergraduate, graduate, and professional students for their accomplishments in 13academics, leadership, and civic engagement; and 14 WHEREAS, she was on the Dean's List and President's List and a member of Pi 15Gammu Mu Honor Society; Brooke served as vice president of the Political Science 16Coalition; and 17 WHEREAS, in law school she maintained an impressive 3.4 GPA, was a member 18of the Southern University Law Student Bar Association Executive Board, and the recipient 19of CALI awards for Constitutional Law II and Torts II; and 20 WHEREAS, additionally Brooke has been involved in the Southern University Law 21Center Pro Bono Society and Volunteers of America; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 19RS-3433 ORIGINAL HR NO. 302 1 WHEREAS, Brooke Battiste deserves a measure of recognition for the tremendous 2honor and pride she brings to her family, friends, and the state of Louisiana. 3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Brooke Battiste for her numerous 5accomplishments and does hereby recognize her academic successes and service to her 6fellow students. 7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 8Brooke Battiste.
