HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 302
BY REPRESENTATIVE MARCELLE
A RESOLUTION
To commend Brooke Battiste for her numerous academic accomplishments.
WHEREAS, Brooke Battiste graduated from Grambling State University with a
bachelor of arts in political science; thereafter, she earned her juris doctor from Southern
University; and
WHEREAS, Brooke's numerous leadership roles and accomplishments have
contributed in many ways to the betterment of the communities on the Grambling and
Southern campuses; her responsibilities have been numerous and she has gone above and
beyond to get involved in her community and excel academically; and
WHEREAS, during her undergraduate years at Grambling, she was a member of the
2014 White House Initiative on Historically Black Colleges and Universities, a program that
recognizes undergraduate, graduate, and professional students for their accomplishments in
academics, leadership, and civic engagement; and
WHEREAS, she was on the Dean's List and President's List and a member of Pi
Gammu Mu Honor Society; Brooke served as vice president of the Political Science
Coalition; and
WHEREAS, in law school she maintained an impressive 3.4 GPA, was a member
of the Southern University Law Student Bar Association Executive Board, and the recipient
of CALI awards for Constitutional Law II and Torts II; and
WHEREAS, additionally Brooke has been involved in the Southern University Law
Center Pro Bono Society and Volunteers of America; and
WHEREAS, Brooke Battiste deserves a measure of recognition for the tremendous
honor and pride she brings to her family, friends, and the state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Brooke Battiste for her numerous

accomplishments and does hereby recognize her academic successes and service to her
fellow students.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Brooke Battiste.
