HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 313

COMMENDATIONS: Commends the Goodwood Property Owners Association of Baton
Rouge
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the Goodwood Property Owners Association for its leadership in promoting
3 safety and a community environment in the Old Goodwood neighborhood of Baton
4 Rouge.
5 WHEREAS, the Old Goodwood neighborhood of Baton Rouge, with a history dating
6to the 1930s, is situated on the original Old Goodwood Plantation; the Goodwood Property
7Owners Association, Incorporated, was founded May 15, 1964, as Goodwood Property
8Owners League, Incorporated; its boundaries are Florida Boulevard on the north; East
9Airport Drive with a southerly turn along Carter Avenue at its intersection with Old
10Hammond Highway on the east; Old Hammond Highway to the intersection of Jefferson
11Highway comprises its southern border; and from Jefferson Highway, the intersection with
12Cloud Drive to South Fairfax Drive forms the western border and returns north to Florida
13Boulevard; the area includes more than 1,900 households, and it has grown and changed
14with the city of Baton Rouge over the years; and
15 WHEREAS, the Goodwood Property Owners Association is composed of volunteer
16residents whose focus is on maintaining the character, safety, and quality of life of one of
17the more vibrant areas of the city; and
18 WHEREAS, the neighborhood has numerous live oak trees and a park where events
19throughout the year help to promote a sense of community among the residents; Old
20Goodwood's legacy as a place of strong relationships for all who call this area home is
21strengthened by the good works of the Goodwood Property Owners Association.

1 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
2Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Goodwood Property Owners Association
3for the work it does to promote safety and a community environment for the Old Goodwood
4neighborhood of Baton Rouge.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
6Goodwood Property Owners Association.
