HLS 19RS-1118 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 46 BY REPRESENTATIVE MOORE CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences on the death of Willie Lattimore 1 A RESOLUTION 2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Willie 3 Lattimore. 4 WHEREAS, those who expend their life's energies for the betterment of humanity 5are worthy of honor, and Brother Willie Lattimore was such an individual; and 6 WHEREAS, Willie Lattimore entered the world on June 20, 1923, in Dayton, Ohio, 7and departed for his eternal rest on Thursday, April 4, 2019, at the age of ninety-five; and 8 WHEREAS, he was the beloved son of James Lattimore and Susie Haley, and grew 9up in Knoxville, Tennessee; and 10 WHEREAS, Willie was drafted into the U.S. Air Force; he toured the Philippines, 11New Guinea, and Australia; he was awarded a Bronze Star for his honorable service in New 12Guinea during World War II; and 13 WHEREAS, in 1958 Willie found himself in Chicago, where he met and married 14Joyce Richard, and to this union, three children were born; in 1992 Willie and Joyce 15relocated to West Monroe; and 16 WHEREAS, Brother Lattimore was ordained as a deacon at Calvary Missionary 17Baptist Church; he was faithful in his service to the deacon board and the church; Brother 18Lattimore worked tirelessly to facilitate the construction of the new edifice; and 19 WHEREAS, Willie was one of the oldest living veterans of World War II in Ouachita 20Parish, and in 2015, he was among an elite group of heroes aboard the Heroes Flight to Page 1 of 2 HLS 19RS-1118 ORIGINAL HR NO. 46 1Washington, D.C.; during the visit, he had the honor of laying a wreath at the Tomb of the 2Unknown Soldier; and 3 WHEREAS, Mr. Lattimore is survived by his wife of sixty years, Joyce Lattimore; 4his son, Reggie, and his wife Beverly; his daughter, Diane; his step-daughter, Joycelyn Craft; 5his nephew, Cliff Burems, and his wife Edna; his sisters-in-law, Eddie Richard and Mary 6Wilson; his grandsons, Chris Craft, Meredith Lattimore, and Brandon Lattimore; his great 7nephews, Ted Richard, III, and his wife Andra, and Darrell Richard, and his wife Joan; and 8two great grandsons and three great granddaughters; and 9 WHEREAS, although his death has left a tremendous void in his community, Mr. 10Lattimore's memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who were fortunate 11enough to know and love him. 12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 13Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express condolences upon the death of Willie 14Lattimore and does hereby extend true appreciation for his enduring legacy that will forever 15continue to be a source of deep pride and honor for his family, friends, community, and the 16state of Louisiana. 17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted 18to the family of Willie Lattimore.
