COMMENDATIONS: Commends Delgado Community College baseball coach Joe
Scheuermann for his outstanding accomplishments
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Delgado Community College baseball coach Joe Scheuermann for his
3 outstanding accomplishments.
4 WHEREAS, in January 2019, he was elected to the National Junior College Athletic
5Association (NJCAA) Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and
6 WHEREAS, in his twenty-ninth season at the helm of the Delgado Community
7College program, the Dolphins' 10-4 win against the Coastal Alabama Community College
8Sun Chiefs on April 9, 2019, marked Coach Scheuermann's 1000th victory; he is the thirtieth
9baseball coach in NJCAA history to reach the milestone; and
10 WHEREAS, in 1990 Coach Scheuermann succeeded his father, "Rags", who founded
11the program, becoming only the second head baseball coach in Delgado Community College
12history; his impressive career has included twelve conference titles, twelve super regional
13appearances, and four Junior College World Series appearances since 2006; and
14 WHEREAS, more than two hundred fifty players under his direction moved on to
15four-year programs throughout the country; dozens of his former players are now coaching
16in the state of Louisiana; and
17 WHEREAS, Coach Scheuermann's dedication to his student-athletes and Delgado
18Community College baseball cultivate an environment in which his players excel both on
19and off the field.
20 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
21Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Delgado Community College baseball coach

1Joe Scheuermann for his outstanding accomplishments; does hereby express enduring
2gratitude for the pride and honor he has brought to the state of Louisiana; and hereby extends
3to him every good wish for success and happiness in his future endeavors.
4 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
5to Joe Scheuermann.
