HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 47
BY REPRESENTATIVES HILFERTY AND GAROFALO
A RESOLUTION
To commend Delgado Community College baseball coach Joe Scheuermann for his
outstanding accomplishments.
WHEREAS, in January 2019, he was elected to the National Junior College Athletic
Association (NJCAA) Baseball Coaches Association Hall of Fame; and
WHEREAS, in his twenty-ninth season at the helm of the Delgado Community
College program, the Dolphins' 10-4 win against the Coastal Alabama Community College
Sun Chiefs on April 9, 2019, marked Coach Scheuermann's 1000th victory; he is the thirtieth
baseball coach in NJCAA history to reach the milestone; and
WHEREAS, in 1990 Coach Scheuermann succeeded his father, "Rags", who founded
the program, becoming only the second head baseball coach in Delgado Community College
history; his impressive career has included twelve conference titles, twelve super regional
appearances, and four Junior College World Series appearances since 2006; and
WHEREAS, more than two hundred fifty players under his direction moved on to
four-year programs throughout the country; dozens of his former players are now coaching
in the state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Coach Scheuermann's dedication to his student-athletes and Delgado
Community College baseball cultivate an environment in which his players excel both on
and off the field.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Delgado Community College baseball coach
Joe Scheuermann for his outstanding accomplishments; does hereby express enduring

gratitude for the pride and honor he has brought to the state of Louisiana; and hereby extends
to him every good wish for success and happiness in his future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Joe Scheuermann.
