COMMENDATIONS: Commends Pastors Ken and Mary Lazard on the momentous
occasion of the opening of the new Destiny of Faith Church campus
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend Pastors Ken and Mary Lazard upon the occasion of the grand opening of the
3 Destiny of Faith Church campus in north Lafayette.
4 WHEREAS, Destiny of Faith Church has committed to being the anchor institution
5in the Truman neighborhood for the past seventeen years and is celebrating the opening of
6their new church facility on Wednesday, April 17, 2019, as Pastors Ken and Mary Lazard,
7their church family, friends, and congregations from all over proudly come together to help
8celebrate the services and sacrifices of this outstanding faith-based organization; and
9 WHEREAS, the Destiny of Faith Church family has demonstrated excellence in
10executing the Church's mission and foundational scripture, Isaiah 58:12: "Your people will
11rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called
12Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings"; and
13 WHEREAS, relocating the church campus will help to develop a model that can be
14mirrored in communities throughout the Acadiana region; and
15 WHEREAS, under the Lazards's leadership, church members have devoted their time
16and energy to many commendable efforts: building higher-end housing stock, redeveloping
17older homes, and generally working to revitalize the Truman neighborhood; and
18 WHEREAS, Destiny of Faith Church invested in its ministry and human capital,
19recognizing the opportunity for the church to play a role in building sustainable partnerships
20with local businesses and working towards giving all Lafayette Parish residents access to
21more opportunities so as to help to break the cycle of generational poverty; and

1 WHEREAS, while Pastors Ken and Mary Lazard were busy with the administration
2of the ministry, they also made time to focus on the larger community and its future.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
4Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Pastors Ken and Mary Lazard upon the
5occasion of the grand opening of the Destiny of Faith Church campus in north Lafayette;
6does hereby record for posterity their numerous years of devoted service to the Destiny of
7Faith Church and its members; and does hereby wish the Destiny of Faith Church continued
8success in all of its future endeavors.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
10to Pastors Ken and Mary Lazard.
