SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Commends the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association
and designates April 23, 2019, as Louisiana Athletic Trainers Day at the state capitol
1 A RESOLUTION
2To commend the members of the Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association for their dedicated
3 hard work on behalf of the athletes of Louisiana and to designate Tuesday, April 23,
4 2019, as Louisiana Athletic Trainers Day at the state capitol.
5 WHEREAS, Louisiana Athletic Trainers Association (LATA) members are skilled
6healthcare professionals trained in the prevention, emergency management, evaluation, and
7therapeutic intervention of sports-related injuries and conditions; and
8 WHEREAS, the mission of the national association is to represent, engage, and foster
9the continued growth and development of the athletic training profession and athletic trainers
10as unique healthcare providers; and
11 WHEREAS, athletic training is an allied healthcare profession recognized by the
12American Medical Association, and certification in the profession requires a person to meet
13strict educational standards based on specific knowledge and skills; and
14 WHEREAS, certified athletic trainers have a long history of providing quality
15healthcare for athletes and individuals engaged in physical activity; and
16 WHEREAS, the hard work of the men and women of LATA has allowed citizens of
17Louisiana to participate in meaningful and rewarding athletic competitions throughout the
18state and nation.
19 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
20Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the Louisiana Athletic
21Trainers Association for their outstanding achievements; does hereby recognize and record

1for posterity their unwavering commitment to excellence in service to the citizens of the
2state; does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor they bring to
3Louisiana; and does hereby designate Tuesday, April 23, 2019, as Louisiana Athletic
4Trainers Day at the state capitol.
5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
6to Cary Berthelot, LATA president, and Cindy Bishop.
