SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH: Recognizes Tuesday, April 23, 2019, as REALTOR Day
at the state capitol in honor of Louisiana REALTORS' centennial anniversary
1 A RESOLUTION
2To recognize April 23, 2019, as REALTOR Day at the state capitol in recognition of the
3 Louisiana REALTORS' centennial anniversary.
4 WHEREAS, Louisiana REALTORS is celebrating its one hundredth anniversary of
5being a trusted voice of real estate in Louisiana; and
6 WHEREAS, in 1919, real estate boards in Alexandria, New Orleans, and Shreveport
7united to create the statewide association that is known today as Louisiana REALTORS; and
8 WHEREAS, in 1920, R.R. Emery of Shreveport became the first president of
9Louisiana REALTORS, and the process of building the real estate profession in Louisiana
10commenced; and
11 WHEREAS, the governing documents of Louisiana REALTORS provide that the
12purpose of the association is to promote and maintain the highest standards of conduct in the
13real estate transaction and to promote the welfare of the real estate business, property
14owners, and in general, the good people of Louisiana; and
15 WHEREAS, in 1946, Louisiana REALTORS was accepted as a member of the
16National Association of REALTORS, a national association of over one million three
17hundred thousand members with a purpose of raising standards of real estate practice and
18preserving the right of property ownership in the interest of the public welfare; and
19 WHEREAS, since 1919, the members of Louisiana REALTORS have worked as
20tireless advocates for the real estate industry and the people of Louisiana by promoting the

1passage of laws to provide for equal opportunity for housing, constitutionally prohibit taxes
2on the transfer of property, and countless other measures; and
3 WHEREAS, in its one hundred year history, Louisiana REALTORS has provided
4a facility for education, research, and the exchange of information for those engaged in the
5real estate business and has served to promote the interest, dignity, and character of the real
6estate profession in Louisiana.
7 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
8Legislature of Louisiana does hereby declare that April 23, 2019, is REALTOR Day at the
9state capitol, commend Louisiana REALTORS' more than fourteen thousand members
10statewide for their work for the people of Louisiana and the real estate industry, congratulate
11them for being the trusted voice of real estate in Louisiana for the past one hundred years,
12and wish them many more successful years to come.
13 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
14to the chief executive officer of Louisiana REALTORS.
