HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 72

CONDOLENCES:  Expresses condolences on the death of Marc Dupuy, Jr.
1	A RESOLUTION
2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Marc Dupuy,
3 Jr.
4 WHEREAS, it was with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the
5Louisiana House of Representatives learned of the death of Marc Dupuy, Jr., on Friday,
6April 19, 2019, at the age of ninety-one; and
7 WHEREAS, born to Marc, Sr., and Naide Sinclair Dupuy on November 11, 1927,
8Marc earned his bachelor's degree and juris doctor degree from Louisiana State University;
9and
10 WHEREAS, a native of Marksville, Mr. Dupuy served his country proudly in the
11United States Navy during World War II; and
12 WHEREAS, he was a practicing attorney for over sixty-five years; Marc was a
13lifelong, avid sportsman and pilot and a dedicated wildlife conservationist and geologist; and
14 WHEREAS, ever active in his community, in 1986 he was named Avoyellean of the
15Year for his involvement in the creation of five wildlife management and wildlife refuge
16areas in Louisiana and his role on several volunteer boards; the award is presented annually
17to an Avoyelles Parish resident for his countless, unselfish deeds; for many years he
18faithfully supported the Louisiana Wildlife Federation, Louisiana Forestry Association,
19Nature Conservancy, and other wildlife organizations; and

1 WHEREAS, Marc worked with numerous organizations, including the
2Archaeological Survey and Antiquities Commission, Red River Waterway Commission, Red
3River Valley Association, Boy Scouts of America, and Public Affairs Research Council; and
4 WHEREAS, Marc Dupuy, Jr., leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of
5sixty-seven years, George Alice DeCuir Dupuy; daughters, Deborah Dupuy Didier,
6Catherine Dupuy Bennett, Pamela Susan Dupuy, and Gwendolyn Alice Dupuy Stutts and
7her husband Greg; son, Marc "Buddy" Dupuy, III, and his wife Vicki; brother, Robert S.
8Dupuy, and his wife Vickie; grandchildren, Jamie Bennett Brittain, Damon Didier, Shanti
9Didier Odom, Zachary Bennett, Brandon and Dustin Stutts, and Sarah and Brody Dupuy;
10great-grandchildren, Samuel, Isaac, and Judah Odom, Will Brittain, II, and Julia and Liam
11Didier; and numerous nieces and nephews; and
12 WHEREAS, although the death of Marc Dupuy, Jr., has left a great void and created
13a genuine sense of sorrow, his legacy shall forever remain in the minds and hearts of all who
14knew and loved this extraordinary man.
15 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
16Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the
17death of Marc Dupuy, Jr., and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and
18honor that this wonderful man will forever bring to his family, friends, and community, the
19state of Louisiana, and the United States of America.
20 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
21to the family of Marc Dupuy, Jr.
