HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 78

A RESOLUTION
To commend the St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High School girls' basketball team
for winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division III State
Championship.
WHEREAS, the team from Hammond distinguished themselves by making it to the
Louisiana High School Athletic Association Top 28 Tournament at the Rapides Coliseum
in Alexandria; and
WHEREAS, the alumni and fans of St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic High
School are proud of the team and the distinction the Lady Falcons brought upon the city of
Hammond and Tangipahoa Parish by defeating the Northlake Christian School Lady
Wolverines; and
WHEREAS, the thrilling victory marks their third state championship; and
WHEREAS, the student athletes performed at the highest level of excellence
throughout the season, and each of these talented Lady Falcons deserves recognition for her
vital contributions to the winning effort: seniors, Caroline Ingraffia, Sadie McGowan, and
Zavier Weary; juniors, Kayla Keller, Lilly Maggio, Cadyn Reed, Jyra Richard, and Marley
Vinet; sophomores, Jerenia Baham, Halle Bouffard, Jade Brumfield, Caroline Eschete,
Jaylyn James, and Abigail Potrament; and freshmen, Breanna Becerra, Madison Mark, and
Jourdan St. Romain; and
WHEREAS, Coaches Eddie Fisher and Courtney Silewicz have instilled an ethic of
winning in these student athletes and have demonstrated leadership and motivational skills
that have led to success both on and off the court.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the St. Thomas Aquinas Regional Catholic
High School girls' basketball team for winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic

Association Division III State Championship and does hereby recognize the team's
outstanding performance and the pride and honor they have brought to their school and
community.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Coaches Eddie Fisher and Courtney Silewicz.
