HLS 19RS-1926 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 97 BY REPRESENTATIVES JEFFERSON AND TURNER CONDOLENCES: Expresses condolences on the death of Kendra and Remington Butler 1 A RESOLUTION 2To express the condolences of the House of Representatives upon the death of Kendra 3 LaShae Butler and Remington Lamar Butler. 4 WHEREAS, it is with deep regret and profound sorrow that the members of the 5House of Representatives have learned of the death of Kendra Butler, and her son 6Remington; and 7 WHEREAS, in the early morning hours of Thursday, April 25, 2019, a tornado 8caused significant damage and widespread devastation to the city of Ruston and Lincoln 9Parish; Kendra and Remington were in their Evans Street home when a tree fell on it, 10claiming the lives of a thirty-five-year-old mother of two and her fourteen-year-old son; and 11 WHEREAS, born on November 28, 1983, in Independence, Kendra LaShae Butler 12was a full-time student pursuing a master of sports administration degree at Grambling State 13University while she worked full-time at Squire Creek Country Club; and 14 WHEREAS, Kendra was full of life, energetic, and ambitious; her children's 15happiness and welfare were her top priorities; and 16 WHEREAS, her beloved son, Remington, was born in Shreveport on April 29, 2004; 17he was a robust, athletic, and handsome young man; a freshman at Ruston High School, 18Remington was a star basketball player; and 19 WHEREAS, they leave to cherish their memories a son and older brother, Cameron 20Murphy; and Page 1 of 2 HLS 19RS-1926 ORIGINAL HR NO. 97 1 WHEREAS, the deaths of Kendra LaShae Butler and Remington Lamar Butler have 2left a tremendous void in the lives of their fellow citizens who will never forget these vibrant 3Louisianians. 4 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the 5Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the 6deaths of Kendra LaShae Butler and Remington Lamar Butler of Ruston; does hereby record 7for posterity their outstanding achievements; and does hereby recognize that the memories 8of Kendra and Remington will live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew them and 9whose lives they touched with their talents and spirit. 10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the 11family of Kendra and Remington Butler.
