Provides relative to times and methods of taking outlaw quadrupeds. (8/1/19) 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 56:116.1(B)(3) and to enact R.S. 56:116.1(D)(3), relative to 3 times and methods of taking of outlaw quadrupeds: to allow taking of outlaw 4 quadrupeds with a shotgun capable of holding more than three shells under certain 5 circumstances; and to provide for related matters. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 56:116.1(B)(3) is hereby amended and reenacted and R.S. 8 56:116.1(D)(3) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 9 ยง116.1. Wild birds and wild quadrupeds; times and methods of taking; penalties 10 * * * 11 B. No person shall do any of the following: 12 * * * 13 (3)(a) Take or kill any game bird or wild quadruped with a firearm fitted with 14 an infrared sight, laser sight or except as provided in Paragraph (A)(8) or (D)(2) of 15 this Section, any sighting device which projects a beam of light to the target or 16 otherwise electronically illuminates the target, or any device specifically designed 17 to enhance vision at night; or. SB NO. 100 SLS 19RS-52 ENGROSSED 1 (b) Except as provided for in Paragraph (D)(3) of this Section, take or 2 kill any game bird or wild quadruped with or by means of an automatic loading 3 or hand operated repeating shotgun capable of holding more than three shells. Any 4 shotgun capable of holding more than three shells shall be plugged with a one-piece 5 filler incapable of removal through the loading end, so as to reduce the capacity of 6 the gun to not more than three shells at one loading. 7 * * * 8 D. * * * 9 (3) On private property, outlaw quadrupeds may be taken with or by 10 means of an automatic loading or hand operated repeating shotgun capable of 11 holding more than three shells when using buckshot or rifled slug ammunition. 12 * * * The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Alan Miller. DIGEST SB 100 Engrossed 2019 Regular Session Allain Present law prohibits the taking of wild quadrupeds, including outlaw quadrupeds (coyotes, armadillos, and feral hogs), with an automatic loading or hand operated repeating shotgun capable of holding more than three shells. Proposed law authorizes the taking of outlaw quadrupeds with an automatic loading or hand operated repeating shotgun capable of holding more than three shells when using buckshot or rifled slug ammunition on private property.
