DIGEST SB 130 Original 2019 Regular Session Peacock Present law provides that persons employed as office court reporters and deputy court reporters of a court of record shall be subject to the certification requirements applicable to certified court reporters. Further provides that any person employed as a court reporter or deputy court reporter on or before December 31, 2011, by a court which uses electronic or audio recording equipment shall be certified as long as he remains employed by that court in such capacity. Present law excludes certain courts from the certification requirements applicable to certified court reporters. Proposed law retains present law but provides for an exception for the Juvenile Court for Caddo Parish authorizing any person, which uses electronic or audio recording equipment, employed as a court reporter or deputy court reporter on or before December 31, 2019, shall be certified as long as he remains employed by the court in such capacity. Effective August 1, 2019. (Adds R.S. 37:2554(B)(3))
