Present law provides for the Hazardous Duty Services Plan at the Louisiana State Employees'
Retirement System (LASERS), commonly called the "Haz Plan".
Present law defines "members" for purposes of the Haz Plan, including employees of the Dept. of
Agriculture and Forestry who respond to wildfires and who qualify as Firefighter Type 2 or higher
according to the National Wildfire Coordinating Group.
Proposed law retains present law but substitutes general wildland firefighter training for the
requirement of qualification as Firefighter Type 2 or higher according to the National Wildfire
Coordinating Group.
Effective June 30, 2019.
