(8/1/19) 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 32:387(B)(2), relative to special permits; to provide relative to 3 issuance of special permits on the interstate highway system in Louisiana; and to 4 provide for related matters. 5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 6 Section 1. R.S. 32:387(B)(2) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 7 ยง387. Special permits 8 * * * 9 B.(1) * * * 10 (2) Subject to the provisions of Paragraphs (3) and (4) of this Subsection, the 11 secretary may issue special permits to permit movement along the interstate highway 12 system within Louisiana of vehicles and loads up to sixteen feet in width that do not 13 meet the requirements of R.S. 32:380 through 386. The request for a permit may 14 be denied, if the secretary determines that the vehicle or load traveling along the 15 proposed route would endanger the public due to construction, highway conditions, 16 or traffic along the proposed route. DIGEST SB 163 Reengrossed 2019 Regular Session Cortez Present law authorizes the secretary to issue special permits to permit movement along the interstate highway system within Louisiana of vehicles and loads up to 16 feet in width. Proposed law changes present law to remove the 16-foot width limitation on the interstate highway system. Effective August 1, 2019. (Amends R.S. 32:387(B)(2)) Summary of Amendments Adopted by Senate Senate Floor Amendments to engrossed bill 1.
