SENATE BILL NO. 24

1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 47:1923(D)(1)(a), relative to the assessor's office in Caddo
3 Parish; to provide relative to the payment of certain group insurance premiums for
4 retirees; and to provide for related matters.
5	Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.
6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
7 Section 1.  R.S. 47:1923(D)(1)(a) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as
8 follows:
9 ยง1923. Authority for assessors separately or jointly to contract for insurance;
10	payment of premiums

12	D.(1)(a) In the parishes of Allen, Ascension, Assumption, Avoyelles,
13 Beauregard, Bienville, Caddo, Calcasieu, Caldwell, Cameron, Catahoula, Claiborne,
14 Concordia, DeSoto, East Baton Rouge, Franklin, Iberia, Iberville, Jackson, Jefferson,
15 Lafayette, Lafourche, LaSalle, Lincoln, Livingston, Madison, Morehouse,
16 Natchitoches, Orleans, Ouachita, Plaquemines, Pointe Coupee, Rapides, Red River,
17 Sabine, St. Bernard, St. Charles, St. Helena, St. John the Baptist, St. Landry, St.
18 Martin, Tangipahoa, Tensas, Terrebonne, Union, Vermilion, Vernon, Washington,
19 Webster, West Baton Rouge, West Carroll, and West Feliciana, the assessor shall
20 pay the premium cost of group life, dental, group health, hospital, surgical, or other
21 medical insurance for any assessor or assessor's employee who meets the
22 requirements of Subparagraph (b) of this Paragraph. A uniform policy with respect
23 to the payment of such premium shall be formulated and applied by the assessor of
24 each parish listed in this Subparagraph.

1 Section 2.  This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not
2 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature
3 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If
4 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become
5 effective on the day following such approval.
