HEARING AID DEALERS.  Increases the number of hours of continuing education
required for hearing aid dealers that may be taken on the internet or through correspondence
courses from three Continuing Education Units to seven units. (8/1/19)
1	AN ACT
2 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:2446.1(A), relative to hearing aid dealers; to provide for an
3 increase in the number of required continuing education hours that may be taken
4 online or by correspondence; and to provide for related matters.
5 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:
6 Section 1.  R.S. 37:2446.1(A) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:
7 ยง2446.1. Continuing education requirement
8	A. Beginning December 1, 2005, the board shall require all licensees
9 applying for reinstatement or renewal of licenses to have completed fifteen hours of
10 continuing education per year in courses approved by the board, which may consist
11 of a maximum of three seven hours obtained through Internet or correspondence
12 courses, in order to renew their license on January first of the following year. Each
13 licensee shall submit documentation from any recognized professional or educational
14 institution to the board as proof that each licensee has been exposed to new
15 developments in the practice which have occurred since the prior issuance or renewal
16 of such license.

Proposed law changes the maximum number of hours from three to seven.
