Provides for membership of the board of commissioners for the Gentilly Development District in Orleans Parish. (gov sig) 1 AN ACT 2 To amend and reenact R.S. 33:2740.70(D)(1), relative to the Gentilly Development District 3 in Orleans Parish; to provide for membership to the board of commissioners; and to 4 provide for related matters. 5 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published. 6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana: 7 Section 1. R.S. 33:2740.70(D)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as 8 follows: 9 ยง2740.70. The Gentilly Development District; creation, composition, and powers; 10 levy of ad valorem taxes and issuance of bonds 11 * * * 12 D. The district shall be governed by a six-member seven-member board of 13 commissioners, referred to in this Section as the "board". This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not 11 signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature 12 by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana. If 13 vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become 14 effective on the day following such approval. DIGEST SB 96 Original 2019 Regular Session Bishop Present law creates a political subdivision of the state known as the Gentilly Development District, in the parish of Orleans. Present law provides for the district to be governed by a six-member board of commissioners. Further provides that a majority of the members of the board shall constitute a quorum. Proposed law retains present law but increases the membership of the board from six to seven. Proposed law adds the state senator who represents Senate District No. 4, or his designee to the board. Effective upon signature of the governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
