SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 30

SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Recognizes May 6-11, 2019, as National Economic
Development Week.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To recognize Baton Rouge North Economic Development District's celebration of "National
3 Economic Development Week", May 6-11, 2019.
4 WHEREAS, the International Economic Development Council is the largest
5 professional economic development organization dedicated to serving economic developers;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, the International Economic Development Council provides leadership
8 and excellence in economic development for communities, members, and partners through
9 conferences, training courses, advisory services and research, in-depth publications, public
10 policy advocacy, and initiatives such as the Accredited Economic Development
11 Organization program and the Certified Economic Developer designation; and
12 WHEREAS, the Baton Rouge North Economic Development District's mission is to
13 promote economic well-being and quality of life for the district by creating, retaining, and
14 expanding jobs that facilitate growth, enhance wealth, and provide a stable tax base; and
15 WHEREAS, the Baton Rouge North Economic Development District's efforts will
16 stimulate and incubate entrepreneurism in order to help establish the next generation of new
17 businesses; and
18 WHEREAS, the Baton Rouge North Economic Development District's objective is

1 to implement sustainable innovative solutions that drive investments, create jobs,
2 strategically advance the economic base, and improve the quality of life within the district
3 through public-private sector collaborations; and
4 WHEREAS, the Baton Rouge North Economic Development District's celebration
5 of the International Economic Development Council's annual National Economic
6 Development Week will serve as a launchpad for the district goals to advance economic
7 development in North Baton Rouge.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
9 recognize May 6-11, 2019, as "National Economic Development Week" and encourage the
10 Baton Rouge community to celebrate and support the expansion of career opportunities and
11 improved quality of life in the Baton Rouge North Economic Development District.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
13 Jerry W. Jones Jr., Executive Director of the Baton Rouge North Economic Development
14 District.
