2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 45 BY SENATOR PEACOCK AND REPRESENTATI VE CARMODY A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To congratulate Easterseals, Inc. on its one hundredth anniversary as an effective advocate for individuals with disabilities and to commend Easterseals Louisiana for the indispensable resources it provides to the local community and its fundraising efforts. WHEREAS, established in 1919, Easterseals, Inc. celebrates a century of positive impact on the lives of individuals with disabilities and their families throughout the United States; and WHEREAS, Easterseals, Inc., a national organization, supports a network of seventy affiliates with over five hundred sites found in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and Australia; and WHEREAS, established in 1951, Easterseals Louisiana now serves thousands of disabled individuals annually; and WHEREAS, with its beginnings in services for children with disabilities, Easterseals has expanded opportunities for disabled individuals to include all age groups; and WHEREAS, Easterseals offers home services and community-based support systems in five distinct developmental areas so that those individuals with a wide range of disabilities may live, learn, work, play, and react at improved levels; and WHEREAS, these comprehensive programs include adult and senior services, autism spectrum services, medical rehabilitation, mental health services, and residential services; and WHEREAS, other available programs are designed to assist children and adults to learn, and often to relearn, basic functions and to master developmental skills; and WHEREAS, Easterseals also provides evaluation devices such as online screening tools, early intervention, child care, and educational services; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 45 ENROLLED WHEREAS, on Saturday, April 27, 2019, Easterseals Louisiana celebrates the Eighth Annual Chocolate & Champagne Benefit to recognize the last one hundred successful years of its parent organization and to honor Sid Potts, the 2019 Lily Award Recipient; and WHEREAS, ninety-one percent of all funds expended by Easterseals Louisiana are used for direct services to its constituents; and WHEREAS, Easterseals Louisiana remains focused on its legacy of service as it embraces the future with a renewed commitment to enhance possibilities for individuals of all ages and abilities. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby congratulate Easterseals, Inc. on its one hundredth anniversary as an effective advocate for individuals with disabilities. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Easterseals Louisiana for sixty-eight years of indispensable service to the community and its successful fundraising efforts. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Tracy Garner, President and CEO, and Mrs. Bernie Bitting, Director of Development, of Easterseals Louisiana.
