SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH. Designates Thursday, May 9, 2019, as LFCA Fire Chiefs
Day at the state capitol.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To designate Thursday, May 9, 2019, as LFCA Fire Chiefs Day at the state capitol.
3 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association (LFCA) was founded in 1976 and
4 is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization serving as a unified voice for Louisiana's fire
5 department chiefs; and
6 WHEREAS, the LFCA is a statewide member organization that advocates on behalf
7 of 420 chiefs from 202 fire departments; and
8 WHEREAS, the LFCA encompasses nine member districts across the state; and
9 WHEREAS, the mission of the LFCA is to improve the methods of fire prevention,
10 training, protection, and extinguishment, to promote the profession of the fire service, and
11 to maintain high standards of professional ethics among fire chiefs of Louisiana; and
12 WHEREAS, the LFCA works to obtain and circulate information of fire
13 administration, prevention, protection, training, and suppression; to encourage study,
14 research, and analysis of all matters relative to the protection and saving of lives and
15 property from the perils of fire and other disasters; to encourage the cooperation and
16 assistance of other organizations in the field of fire prevention and protection; to render
17 whatever assistance possible to other members, individuals, or organizations interested in
18 fire prevention and protection; to promote the fire service in the highest degree of

1 professionalism, and promote the welfare of all Louisiana fire fighters; and to render the
2 citizens the most efficient service possible; and
3 WHEREAS, the LFCA continues to promote fire service by shaping legislation,
4 providing education on fire service issues, and encouraging the exchange of ideas and
5 experiences among fire department chiefs throughout the state; and
6 WHEREAS, the LFCA is celebrating forty-three years of advocacy, education, and
7 service; and
8 WHEREAS, on Thursday, May 9, 2019, the LFCA hosts its LFCA Fire Chiefs Day
9 at the Capitol celebrating all fire service personnel for their dedication to fire service.
10 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
11 designate Thursday, May 9, 2019, as "LFCA Fire Chiefs Day" at the state capitol.
12 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
13 Louisiana Fire Chiefs Association.
