SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 5
BY SENATOR BARROW 
SPECIAL DAY/WEEK/MONTH.  Declares April 17, 2019, 100 Black Women of
Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day in Louisiana.
1	A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To declare April 17, 2019, as 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day in
3 Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women was launched on
5 October 24, 1981, and the local chapter, the 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton
6 Rouge, on November 5, 2016; and
7 WHEREAS, its mission is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to
8 promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and
9 economic empowerment; and
10 WHEREAS, the local chapter will create, develop, and execute programs within its
11 service area of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas that promote its mission while
12 specifically targeting black women and girls; and
13 WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the 100 Black Women
14 of Metropolitan Baton Rouge have declared the seventeenth day of April 2019, as 100 Black
15 Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day.
16 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
17 declare April 17, 2019, as 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day in
18 Louisiana.
