2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 5 BY SENATOR BARROW AND REPRESENTATIVE SMITH A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To declare April 17, 2019, as 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day in Louisiana. WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women was launched on October 24, 1981, and the local chapter, the 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge, on November 5, 2016; and WHEREAS, its mission is to advocate on behalf of black women and girls to promote leadership development and gender equity in the areas of health, education, and economic empowerment; and WHEREAS, the local chapter will create, develop, and execute programs within its service area of Baton Rouge and surrounding areas that promote its mission while specifically targeting black women and girls; and WHEREAS, the National Coalition of 100 Black Women and the 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge have declared the seventeenth day of April 2019, as 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby declare April 17, 2019, as 100 Black Women of Metropolitan Baton Rouge Day in Louisiana.
