SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 61

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Danielle Scott upon being inducted into the Louisiana
Sports Hall of Fame.
1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION
2 To commend Danielle Scott on being named to the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
3 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year
4 collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of
5 sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talent worthy of being named to the hall
6 of fame; and
7 WHEREAS, the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes
8 Danielle Scott; and
9 WHEREAS, born on October 1, 1972, in Baton Rouge, she attended Woodlawn High
10 School, where her talent on the volleyball court was developed and she won numerous all-
11 state honors; and
12 WHEREAS, upon graduating she enrolled in Long Beach State University, where
13 she was a three-time first team American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American and
14 in 1993 led the team to the National College Athletic Association National Championship
15 and won the Honda Sports Award as the top college volleyball player; and
16 WHEREAS, among other honors, she was also a three-time first team American
17 Volleyball Coaches Association All-American and the National Player of the Year in 1993;

1 WHEREAS, her distinguished career took her to the Olympics, where she played in
2 the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 games, breaking a United States female volleyball
3 athlete record for Olympic appearances; and
4 WHEREAS, she was voted the world's top professional player in 2001 and inducted
5 into the International Volleyball Hall of fame in 2016; and
6 WHEREAS, the successful career of Danielle Scott has rightly earned her a place
7 among the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
9 commend and congratulate Danielle Scott on being named to the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall
10 of Fame Induction Class.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Danielle Scott.
