2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 61 BY SENATORS LONG AND RISER A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Danielle Scott on being named to the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talent worthy of being named to the hall of fame; and WHEREAS, the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes Danielle Scott; and WHEREAS, born on October 1, 1972, in Baton Rouge, she attended Woodlawn High School, where her talent on the volleyball court was developed and she won numerous all- state honors; and WHEREAS, upon graduating she enrolled in Long Beach State University, where she was a three-time first team American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American and in 1993 led the team to the National College Athletic Association National Championship and won the Honda Sports Award as the top college volleyball player; and WHEREAS, among other honors, she was also a three-time first team American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American and the National Player of the Year in 1993; and WHEREAS, her distinguished career took her to the Olympics, where she played in the 1996, 2000, 2004, 2008, and 2012 games, breaking a United States female volleyball athlete record for Olympic appearances; and WHEREAS, she was voted the world's top professional player in 2001 and inducted into the International Volleyball Hall of Fame in 2016; and Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 61 ENROLLED WHEREAS, the successful career of Danielle Scott has rightly earned her a place among the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Danielle Scott on being named to the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class.
