2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 66 BY SENATORS LONG AND RISER AND REPRESENTATIVE STOKES A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION To commend Marion D. Edwards upon being inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the citizens and the Legislature of the State of Louisiana have learned of the prestigious honor bestowed upon Marion D. Edwards being inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame; and WHEREAS, the Louisiana Political Museum and Hall of Fame was created by an Act of the Louisiana Legislature in 1987 as a state museum dedicated to the preservation of the history of Louisiana politics; and WHEREAS, the Edwards family has long been associated with politics in the state of Louisiana; and WHEREAS, Marion D. Edwards has been synonymous with and loyal to his brother, Edwin Edwards, throughout his political career; and WHEREAS, Marion operated The Edwards Insurance and Real Estate Agency from 1956 through 2011; and WHEREAS, he served as Vice President of Governmental Affairs for Freeport McMoRan, Inc. from 1983-1995, and continued as a political consultant until 1999; and WHEREAS, he also worked closely with his brother, Edwin Edwards, on various political campaigns from 1958 through 1996 where he acted as campaign manager and treasurer for at least eighteen local, parish, district, state and national elections; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon good, strong, driven, and loyal men like Marion D. Edwards. Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 66 ENROLLED THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend and congratulate Marion D. Edwards upon being inducted into the Louisiana Political Hall of Fame. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Marion D. Edwards.
