SLS 19RS-774 ORIGINAL 2019 Regular Session SENATE CONCURRENT RESOL UTION NO. 67 BY SENATOR LONG COMMENDATIONS. Commends Max Fugler upon being inducted into the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. 1 A CONCURRENT RESOL UTION 2 To commend Max Fugler on being named to the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. 3 WHEREAS, the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in Natchitoches, Louisiana, each year 4 collaborates with the Louisiana Sports Writers Association in selecting a limited number of 5 sports figures who embody the character, skill, and talent worthy of being named to the hall 6 of fame; and 7 WHEREAS, the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame Induction Class includes 8 Max Fugler; and 9 WHEREAS, a legend on the football field, he began his playing career at Ferriday 10 High School where his team won three straight Class A state championships from 1954 to 11 1956; and 12 WHEREAS, upon graduation, he attended Louisiana State University, where he 13 played center for the Tigers and was part of the team that won the 1958 national 14 championship and the 1959 Sugar Bowl; and 15 WHEREAS, because of his great skill and ability, he was named All-American in 16 1958 by the Football Writers Association of America and an All-Southeastern Conference 17 selection by United Press International; and 18 WHEREAS, the successful football career of Max Fugler has rightly earned him a Page 1 of 2 SCR NO. 67 SLS 19RS-774 ORIGINAL 1 place among the many greats in the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame. 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby 3 commend and congratulate Max Fugler on being named to the 2019 Louisiana Sports Hall 4 of Fame Induction Class. 5 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 6 Max Fugler.
