SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 121

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Global Bodybuilding Organization (GBO) on its
impact on bodybuilding and fitness in Louisiana.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Global Bodybuilding Organization (GBO) on its impact on bodybuilding
3 and fitness in Louisiana.
4 WHEREAS, obesity is the root cause of many severe and deadly diseases and
5 Louisiana's obesity rate is currently thirty-two percent; and
6 WHEREAS, a need exists to reduce Louisiana's obesity rate for quality of life issues,
7 as well as to reduce the strain on Louisiana's healthcare system and budget; and
8 WHEREAS, the GBO organizes bodybuilding and fitness competitions in Louisiana
9 focusing on "athletes first" and on being a positive role model for Louisiana citizens; and
10 WHEREAS, the GBO is a group of bodybuilding and fitness experts who know it is
11 important to set a strong, positive example in the bodybuilding and fitness industry; and
12 WHEREAS, the GBO knows that a strong, positive example is a motivator for people
13 who want or need to make a lifestyle transformation for health or personal-best gains; and
14 WHEREAS, the GBO leadership has competed and promoted in the bodybuilding
15 and fitness industry around the country and the world for many years; and
16 WHEREAS, the GBO knows how much time, money, dedication, hard work, and
17 passion it takes for a competitor to prepare for a bodybuilding or fitness competition; and
18 WHEREAS, the GBO realizes that a man or woman must have great courage to

1 present themselves on stage for the viewing public in these competitions; and
2 WHEREAS, the GBO recognized a need to give these courageous men and women
3 more support and attention in their bodybuilding and fitness journeys; and
4 WHEREAS, the GBO established itself in February of 2015 with the focus on the
5 competitive athlete in mind to help create a professional, "athlete friendly" fitness industry;
6 and
7 WHEREAS, the GBO has worked tirelessly with its athletes, vendors, and patrons
8 to bring fair competitions to Louisiana's men and women bodybuilding and fitness
9 competitors; and
10 WHEREAS, the GBO bodybuilding and fitness competitions held in our great state
11 are beacons of hope as they set an example of how to become and remain physically fit.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby commend the Global Bodybuilding Organization (GBO) on its impact on
14 bodybuilding and fitness in Louisiana.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
16 Global Bodybuilding Organization.
