Louisiana Senate Bill SR129 Enrolled / Bill

                    2019 Regular Session	ENROLLED
SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 129
BY SENATOR MORRELL
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Johnson & Johnson Global Pro Bono Program, part of their Talent for
Good Program, operating in New Orleans, Louisiana, and its focus on healthcare
while in the city this spring.
WHEREAS, Johnson & Johnson maintains an active program involving paid time
off (PTO) which pairs employees with nonprofits where the skills of the employee are
matched with a skill set needed around the world; and
WHEREAS, the Johnson & Johnson Global Pro Bono Program collaborates with
PYXERA Global, an international organization that has leveraged the unique strengths of
corporations, governments, and social sector organizations to solve complex problems and
to attain mutually beneficial goals, such that both the community and the volunteers reap
benefits; and
WHEREAS, the program in New Orleans is only the third launched worldwide by
Johnson & Johnson and will partner with the city of New Orleans, CrescentCare, Priority
Health Care, and SBP (an organization formed in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina to assist
the people of St. Bernard Parish, whose entire parish was deemed "uninhabitable" following
the storm); and
WHEREAS, the team will work with CrescentCare to align key initiatives with the
strategic vision of the organization for maximum community impact; and
WHEREAS, Priority Health Care will collaborate with participants to create strong
marketing strategy in order to support customer acquisition of healthcare services; and
WHEREAS, employee participants will use their expertise to partner with the city
of New Orleans to identify effective and efficient processes to improve operations; and
WHEREAS, part of the cohort of employees of Johnson & Johnson will work with
SBP to develop a performance management program that will result in better hires, improved
training, and retention of a diverse workforce; and

WHEREAS, the program is designed to produce positive impact in three ways, and
for participants it is an unparalleled global leadership development opportunity; for
nonprofits and governments they gain expertise, through consulting that would otherwise be
unavailable; and for the companies that participate, they gain insight into new markets, and
developing authentic reputations by highlighting their commitment to a positive corporate
social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Johnson & Johnson Global Community Impact Team works with
Johnson & Johnson Associates around the globe to apply their hearts, skills, and ingenuity
to make a sustainable difference in the lives of others; and
WHEREAS, the work of volunteers and nonprofit organizations have been
instrumental in rebuilding and reenergizing New Orleans and its surrounding areas since the
horrendous devastation of Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath; and
WHEREAS, with areas of the city still recovering and a healthcare system that was
virtually shut down for several months, access to excellent healthcare was largely
inaccessible and largely without resources to properly care for the city's inhabitants; and
WHEREAS, today, many of the post-Katrina obstacles have been dealt with and
accessible healthcare has returned for many in the New Orleans area, but pockets of
inaccessibility remain, and the employees of Johnson & Johnson will be tackling a wide
range of the most intractable healthcare issues in the city.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend the Johnson & Johnson Global Pro Bono Program, part of their Talent
for Good Program, operating in New Orleans, Louisiana, and its focus on healthcare while
in the city this spring.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Johnson & Johnson.
