SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 132

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the St. Amant High School Gators Softball Team on
winning the 2019 State Championship.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the St. Amant High School Gators on winning the 2019 Allstate Sugar
3 Bowl/LHSAA Softball State Tournament - Class 5A.
4 WHEREAS, by a score of 3-1, the St. Amant Gators won the playoff game against
5 Barbe in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on April 27, 2019; and
6 WHEREAS, the members of the talented winners of the St. Amant High School
7 Softball Team (Gators) includes three seniors: Meghan Boutwell, Chandler Guedry, and
8 Kelsi Martine; nine juniors: Jesse Allison, Addie Bourgeois, Eva Crochet, Kailey Dufour,
9 Payton Granier, Kendyl Kerr, Naylie Rodriguez, Alyssa Romano, and Rylee Rossi; five
10 sophomores: Julia Kramer, Addiston Mahoney, Kaylee Parker, Sophie Smith, and
11 Shelby Whittington; and nine freshmen: Baleigh Bentivegna, Rylie Boudreaux,
12 Caterina Byars, Lauren Crochet, Marie Crochet, Carmen Dixon, Sydney Hughes,
13 Harleigh Lemonds, and Kyra Sorenson; and
14 WHEREAS, the Gators performed at the highest level of athletic excellence
15 throughout the tournament and each of them deserves recognition for their vital contribution
16 to the winning effort; and
17 WHEREAS, the Gators' exemplary accomplishment could not have been achieved
18 without the guidance and skills of their Head Coach Amy Pitre, assistants coaches:

1 John Bentivegna, Jay Brignac, Darrel Landry, and Mark Maher; Athletic Director
2 David Oliver; trainers: Scott Arceneaux and Caitlyn Klingman, all of whom have
3 demonstrated the kind of leadership, vision, and motivational skills needed to produce
4 champions; and
5 WHEREAS, the Gators have been recognized for the well deserved accolades earned
6 throughout the season and showcasing the extraordinary athletic abilities they have
7 displayed, particularly at the most difficult level of high school competition.
8 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
9 does hereby express its sincere congratulations to the St. Amant High School Gators on
10 winning the 2019 Allstate Sugar Bowl/LHSAA Softball State Tournament - Class 5A.
11 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
12 Amy Pitre, head coach of the St. Amant High School Gators Softball Team.
