SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 134
BY SENATOR JOHNS 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends retired Colonel Harry J. Montgomery upon his
accomplishments.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend retired United States Army Colonel Harry J. Montgomery on his many
3 accomplishments.
4 WHEREAS, Harry J. Montgomery served for thirty-seven and one-half years in the
5 United States Army, retiring with the rank of colonel in October 1989, and during his service
6 held commands at the brigade, battalion, and company levels; and 
7 WHEREAS, Colonel Montgomery's last active assignment was Director of
8 Intelligence and Security, Adjutant General's staff; and 
9 WHEREAS, he is now Chairman of the Retiree Council Fort Polk which covers
10 military retirees in Louisiana, Mississippi, and seven southeast Texas counties; a member
11 of the employer support of the United States Army National Guard and United States Army
12 National Reserve for southwest Louisiana, and Chairman of the Armed Forces Committee
13 for the city of Sulphur; and
14 WHEREAS, Colonel Montgomery credits also includes service as director for
15 Houston Asset Management located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, serving as president of Old
16 Spanish Trail Credit Union Conoco/Phillips, and he retired from Condea Vista/Sasol
17 Chemicals; and 
18 WHEREAS, he is an active member of House River Baptist Church serving as a

1 deacon, Sunday school director, and Bible teacher; and 
2 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
3 and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon people like
4 Colonel Harry J. Montgomery.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby commend and recognize retired United States Army Colonel Harry J.
7 Montgomery for his service to his country and his extraordinary life and express enduring
8 gratitude for his outstanding accomplishments and the singular contributions he has made
9 to his family, friends, community, and state.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
11 Colonel Harry J. Montgomery.
