SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 134
BY SENATOR JOHNS 
A RESOLUTION
To commend retired United States Army Colonel Harry J. Montgomery on his many
accomplishments.
WHEREAS, Harry J. Montgomery served for thirty-seven and one-half years in the
United States Army, retiring with the rank of colonel in October 1989, and during his service
held commands at the brigade, battalion, and company levels; and 
WHEREAS, Colonel Montgomery's last active assignment was Director of
Intelligence and Security, Adjutant General's staff; and 
WHEREAS, he is now Chairman of the Retiree Council Fort Polk which covers
military retirees in Louisiana, Mississippi, and seven southeast Texas counties; a member
of the employer support of the United States Army National Guard and United States Army
National Reserve for southwest Louisiana, and Chairman of the Armed Forces Committee
for the city of Sulphur; and
WHEREAS, Colonel Montgomery credits also includes service as director for
Houston Asset Management located in Lake Charles, Louisiana, serving as president of Old
Spanish Trail Credit Union Conoco/Phillips, and he retired from Condea Vista/Sasol
Chemicals; and 
WHEREAS, he is an active member of House River Baptist Church serving as a
deacon, Sunday school director, and Bible teacher; and 
WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depends, in great measure, upon people like
Colonel Harry J. Montgomery.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend and recognize retired United States Army Colonel Harry J.
Montgomery for his service to his country and his extraordinary life and express enduring
gratitude for his outstanding accomplishments and the singular contributions he has made
to his family, friends, community, and state.
