SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 14

COMMENDATIONS. Commends the Northwestern State University chapter of the Alpha
Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society on receiving the Order of the Torch Award.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Northwestern State University chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta
3 Freshman Honor Society on receiving the Order of the Torch Award.
4 WHEREAS, the Order of the Torch is the organization's highest honor and annual
5 award for the most outstanding chapters of Alpha Lambda Delta in the United States of
6 America; and
7 WHEREAS, chapters submit a scrapbook describing their activities during the past
8 year and the scrapbooks are judged by a committee of National Council members with the
9 winning chapters being presented an award banner at a special ceremony; and
10 WHEREAS, judging is based on chapter involvement, chapter communication,
11 campus visibility, and presentation; and
12 WHEREAS, the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society chapter at
13 Northwestern State University was founded in 1965 and has been a part of campus life for
14 more than fifty-three years; and
15 WHEREAS, with two hundred eighty Alpha Lambda Delta chapters nationwide, the
16 Northwestern State University chapter was one of three to be awarded such an honor; and
17 WHEREAS, Alpha Lambda Delta continues to encourage superior academic
18 achievement among students in their first year at institutions of higher learning, promote

1 intelligent living and a continued high standard of learning, and assist students in
2 recognizing and developing meaningful goals for their roles in society.
3 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
4 does hereby commend the Northwestern State University chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta
5 Freshman Honor Society on receiving the Order of the Torch Award and does hereby wish
6 it continued success in the future.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
8 Northwestern State University chapter of the Alpha Lambda Delta Freshman Honor Society.
