SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 140
BY SENATOR WARD 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends AMIkids Baton Rouge for 50 years of youth service and
community impact.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend AMIkids Baton Rouge on its fiftieth year of guiding troubled youth into
3 positive, productive paths and enabling them to become successful citizens of the
4 state of Louisiana.
5 WHEREAS, founded in 1969 by Robert Rosoff and Judge Frank Orlando in Fort
6 Lauderdale, Florida, AMIkids has proved itself a valuable ally in the great task of nurturing
7 at-risk youth; and
8 WHEREAS, AMIkids' mission is to provide troubled youth with proactive
9 alternatives to institutional incarceration by offering them a second chance, a new direction,
10 and caring, guiding hands within a community-based setting; and
11 WHEREAS, nationally, AMIkids has served and helped transform the lives of more
12 than 136,000 kids and teens, including more than 12,000 in the state of Louisiana; young
13 people impacted by AMIkids are able to work their way back into a world of opportunity;
14 graduates have gone on to earn high school and college diplomas, start small businesses, find
15 gainful employment, enlist in the military, and serve as loving and nurturing parents; and
16 WHEREAS, the organization maintains a positive relationship with state agencies,
17 law enforcement, and the state legislature; and
18 WHEREAS, holding to its mission, AMIkids continues to assist youth in "separating

1 a troubled past from a bright future".
2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
3 does hereby commend AMIkids Baton Rouge on its fiftieth year of guiding troubled youth
4 into positive, productive paths and enabling them to become successful citizens of the state
5 of Louisiana and does hereby recognize this worthy organization for providing loving,
6 practical assistance and hope for the future to so many at-risk young people.
7 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Lolita
8 Jones, executive director of AMIkids Baton Rouge.
