SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 15
BY SENATOR FANNIN 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Grambling State University student leaders, the divisions
of academic affairs and student affairs, and the university president for their outstanding
achievements as innovators in service to the university and to the state of Louisiana.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Grambling State University student leaders, the divisions of academic affairs
3 and student affairs, and the university president for their outstanding achievements
4 as innovators in service to the university and to the state of Louisiana.
5 WHEREAS, Grambling State University student Adarian Williams demonstrated
6 outstanding leadership as the second two-term Student Government Association President
7 in the university's history by representing the student body in the searches for University
8 President, Vice President of Student Affairs, and as a member of the Louisiana Board of
9 Regents, Louisiana Council of Student Body Presidents, National Association for the
10 Advancement of Colored People, and the Sponsored Programs Committee of the Louisiana
11 Board of Regents; and
12 WHEREAS, Grambling State University student Maurice Tandy-Patton was named
13 Louisiana's Broadcaster of the Year by the Louisiana Association of Broadcasters (LAB) for
14 his dedication and work with the KGRM Radio Station; and
15 WHEREAS, Grambling State University students Jarrid Richards, Kerwan Antoine,
16 and Casey Henry earned recognition as winners of the Golden Pitch Business Model
17 Competition sponsored by BRF's Entrepreneurial Accelerator for their innovation in
18 university recruiting technologies; and

1 WHEREAS, Grambling State University students Gary White, Niana Celestine, and
2 Nakiaus Glosson earned first-place honors and the ten thousand dollar prize in the 2018
3 Bayou Classic BizTech Challenge Business Model competition for their pilot work in
4 healthcare technology mobile applications; and
5 WHEREAS, Grambling State University students Arlanda Nunsett, Faith Pittman,
6 and Niana Celestine earned recognition as national Black Engineers of the Year in the
7 categories of community service, student leadership, and academics; and
8 WHEREAS, Grambling State University students Niana Celestine, Faith Pittman,
9 Kerwan Antoine, Jumel Jno Baptiste, Ross Wise, and Sherdica Moses earned national honors
10 as finalists in the 2019 South-By-Southwest HBCU Battle of the Brains competition for their
11 ideas and innovation; and
12 WHEREAS, the students, faculty, and staff of Grambling State University's academic
13 programs in computer science, engineering technology, business, theatre, accounting, and
14 chemistry merit a sincere measure of commendation for their remarkable work in cultivating
15 student innovation and service and for the honor they have brought to Grambling State
16 University.
17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
18 does hereby commend the members of the Grambling State University divisions of academic
19 affairs and student affairs and university president Richard J. Gallot Jr., for their outstanding
20 achievements during the 2018-2019 academic year and for the tremendous pride that they
21 bring to the University of Louisiana System, Grambling State University, the community,
22 and the state of Louisiana.
23 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
24 president of Grambling State University.
