SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 152

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Glen James for 50 years of dedicated service to the West
Calcasieu Port.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Glen James for fifty years of dedicated service to the West Calcasieu Port.
3 WHEREAS, Glen James has served as the attorney for the West Calcasieu Port in
4 Sulphur, Louisiana, since 1969; and
5 WHEREAS, he is a 1964 graduate of Texas A&M University, received his law
6 degree from Louisiana State University, and was admitted to the Louisiana State Bar in
7 1969, the same year he began providing legal services to the small fledgling port on the Gulf
8 Intracoastal Waterway, twelve miles south of Sulphur; and
9 WHEREAS, Mr. James served as a commissioned officer in the United States Army,
10 in the Army Reserve for thirteen years, and served one tour in Vietnam; and
11 WHEREAS, he is a former city attorney for the city of Sulphur and served on the
12 board of the Chennault International Airport in Lake Charles, Louisiana, for eleven years;
13 and
14 WHEREAS, Mr. James and his wife, Darlene, reside in Sulphur and have five
15 children, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren; and
16 WHEREAS, he was honored on May 7, 2019, with a plaque commemorating fifty
17 years of dedicated service as the attorney for the port; and
18 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities,

1 and the overall vitality of American society depend in great measure upon people like
2 Glen James; and
3 WHEREAS, in addition to his many achievements as an attorney, Glen James is a
4 deeply beloved member of the Sulphur community who has earned the respect and
5 admiration of the countless citizens whose lives he has touched.
6 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
7 does hereby commend Glen James for fifty years of dedicated service to the West Calcasieu
8 Port and does hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in all
9 of his future endeavors.
10 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
11 Glen James.
