2019 Regular Session ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 154 BY SENATOR MARTINY A RESOLUTION To commend Randy Guillot upon his appointment as chairman of the American Trucking Association. WHEREAS, Randy Guillot has over thirty-five years of experience working in the trucking industry and is president of Southeastern Motor Freight, Inc., and Triple G Express, Inc.; and WHEREAS, Randy Guillot graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1983 with a bachelor of arts degree in business administration and a minor in marketing; and WHEREAS, after graduating from college in 1983, Mr. Guillot went to work in the family trucking business, Southeastern Motor Freight, Inc. which was founded by his grandfather, Aswell Pitre, in 1945; and WHEREAS, in 1985 Randy Guillot helped to create a second family trucking company, Triple G Express, Inc. with his father, Elmo Guillot, and his brother, Glen Guillot, and he took an active interest in both companies; and WHEREAS, the combined businesses involving Mr. Guillot haul over one hundred intermodal container trucks to the Port of New Orleans and they also run short haul dry vans; and WHEREAS, Randy Guillot has been a longtime member of Louisiana Motor Transport Association (LMTA) and served as president of LMTA in 2011 and 2012, chairman in 2012 through 2013, and in 2015 he was honored with the T.H. Davidge Memorial Award for outstanding service to the trucking industry; and WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot has been an active member of the American Trucking Association (ATA) since 2000; and WHEREAS, ATA is the largest national trade association for the trucking industry and is comprised of fifty affiliated state trucking associations and industry conferences; and Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 154 ENROLLED WHEREAS, Mr. Guillot's current service at ATA includes first vice chairman of ATA, a member of the executive committee and the board, as well as chairman of strategic priorities committee, chairman of membership committee, member of ATA's management committee, and ATA's compensation committee, and he is the immediate past chairman of ATA's intermodal motor carrier's conference; and WHEREAS, Randy Guillot has been married to his wife, Renee', since 1983 and they will soon celebrate their thirty-sixth anniversary; and WHEREAS, the Guillots have three grown children, Mitchell, Megan, and Mason, and their sons work in the family trucking businesses; and WHEREAS, Randy Guillot has been an active participant in his family trucking businesses since his graduation from college, he has a grasp of all the aspects of the trucking business, he has been active in the associations that represent the trucking business, an essential segment of the nation's transportation network, and he has worked tirelessly on issues that affect truckers and trucking; and WHEREAS, Randy Guillot is an excellent choice to head the nation's premier trucking trade organization and his hard work and support of the trucking industry will serve him well in this new role as chairman of the American Trucking Association. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Randy Guillot upon his appointment as chairman of the American Trucking Association.
