CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR, COLOMB, CORTEZ, DONAHUE,
ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HENSGENS, HEWITT, JOHNS,
LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LONG, LUNEAU, MARTINY, MILKOVICH,
MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK, PETERSON,
PRICE, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER,
THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dylan Achord upon his death
while serving his country as a member of its armed forces.
WHEREAS, Dylan Achord was the son of Jennifer Laird Rayborn and
Sydney Achord; and
WHEREAS, LCpl. Achord proudly served his country in the United States Marine
Corps 2D Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment; and
WHEREAS, 2D Battalion, 6th Marines is an infantry battalion in the United States
Marine Corps based out of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, and is a ground combat element
composed of infantry and support personnel; and
WHEREAS, being a member of 2D Battalion, 6th Marine, LCpl. Achord was part
of a tactical unit that was used to accomplish the mission of locating, closing with, and
destroying the enemy by fire and close combat; and
WHEREAS, the Marines have fourteen leadership traits which are Justice, Judgment,
Dependability, Initiative, Decisiveness, Tact, Integrity, Endurance, Bearing, Unselfishness,
Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty and Enthusiasm; and
WHEREAS, during his service LCpl. Achord exemplified the fourteen Marine
leadership traits and thrived under the spartan conditions of the Marine Corps, learning the
skills he would need to be an outstanding Marine and a leader that his fellow Marines would
follow and admire; and

WHEREAS, LCpl. Achord received a myriad of awards for his service at a very
young age including the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service
Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, and Sea Service Deployment Ribbon
and Medals; and
WHEREAS, LCpl. Achord passed away at his home, while on leave, on Monday,
September 10, 2018.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States
Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dylan Achord for their immeasurable loss and wish to
recognize him for his service and for the great sacrifices he made on behalf of his country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dylan Achord.
