Expresses condolences upon the death of Lance Corporal Cole Estelle. 1 A RESOLUTION 2 To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the 3 family of United States Marine Lance Corporal Cole Estelle upon his death while 4 serving his country as a member of its armed forces. 5 WHEREAS, he was the son of Sharon Pace Chustz and Royce Estelle and a resident 6 of Zachary, Louisiana; and 7 WHEREAS, Cole was a 2015 graduate of Zachary High School, where he 8 participated in the United States Army Junior Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) and the 9 marching band; and 10 WHEREAS, JROTC is one of the largest character development and citizenship 11 programs for youth in the world; and 12 WHEREAS, Cole identified at an early age the goal of serving his country and took 13 remarkable steps to prepare himself for this journey; and 14 WHEREAS, throughout his life, Cole always knew exactly what to say to keep you 15 smiling; and 16 WHEREAS, there was never a day that you couldn't find him putting silver linings 17 to the darkest situations, with his hands outstretched to anyone who needed his help; and 18 WHEREAS, he was an outdoorsman at heart; he spent most of his time hiking, Page 1 of 2 SR NO. 165 SLS 19RS-1055 ORIGINAL 1 fishing, hunting, and engaging in anything that would get him dirty; and 2 WHEREAS, he was always using his faith to get him through the toughest of times, 3 and his passion for living life to the fullest so that he could give his life for ours was truly 4 a reflection of Christ's love for us all; and 5 WHEREAS, the Marines have fourteen leadership traits which are Justice, Judgment, 6 Dependability, Initiative, Decisiveness, Tact, Integrity, Endurance, Bearing, Unselfishness, 7 Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty and Enthusiasm; and 8 WHEREAS, during his service, he exemplified the fourteen Marine leadership traits 9 and thrived under the spartan conditions of the Marine Corps, learning the skills he would 10 need to be an outstanding Marine and a leader that his fellow Marines would follow and 11 admire; and 12 WHEREAS, LCpl. Cole was stationed at Bangor Naval Base; and 13 WHEREAS, he died on Saturday, June 9, 2018, as a result of a motor vehicle 14 accident in Gig Harbor, Washington; and 15 WHEREAS, LCpl. Cole was interred with full military honors at Louisiana National 16 Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana. 17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana 18 does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States 19 Marine Lance Corporal Cole Estelle for their immeasurable loss and wish to recognize him 20 for his service and for the great sacrifices he made on behalf of his country. 21 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to 22 family of Lance Corporal Cole Estelle.
