SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 165
BY SENATORS BOUDREAUX, ALARIO, ALLAIN, APPEL, BARROW, BISHOP,
CARTER, CHABERT, CLAITOR, COLOMB, CORTEZ, DONAHUE,
ERDEY, FANNIN, GATTI, HENSGENS, HEWITT, JOHNS,
LAFLEUR, LAMBERT, LONG, LUNEAU, MARTINY, MILKOVICH,
MILLS, MIZELL, MORRELL, MORRISH, PEACOCK, PETERSON,
PRICE, RISER, GARY SMITH, JOHN SMITH, TARVER,
THOMPSON, WALSWORTH, WARD AND WHITE 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of United States Marine Lance Corporal Cole Estelle upon his death while
serving his country as a member of its armed forces.
WHEREAS, he was the son of Sharon Pace Chustz and Royce Estelle and a resident
of Zachary, Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, Cole was a 2015 graduate of Zachary High School, where he
participated in the United States Army Junior Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) and the
marching band; and
WHEREAS, JROTC is one of the largest character development and citizenship
programs for youth in the world; and
WHEREAS, Cole identified at an early age the goal of serving his country and took
remarkable steps to prepare himself for this journey; and
WHEREAS, throughout his life, Cole always knew exactly what to say to keep you
smiling; and
WHEREAS, there was never a day that you couldn't find him putting silver linings
to the darkest situations, with his hands outstretched to anyone who needed his help; and
WHEREAS, he was an outdoorsman at heart; he spent most of his time hiking,
fishing, hunting, and engaging in anything that would get him dirty; and
WHEREAS, he was always using his faith to get him through the toughest of times,
and his passion for living life to the fullest so that he could give his life for ours was truly
a reflection of Christ's love for us all; and

WHEREAS, the Marines have fourteen leadership traits which are Justice, Judgment,
Dependability, Initiative, Decisiveness, Tact, Integrity, Endurance, Bearing, Unselfishness,
Courage, Knowledge, Loyalty and Enthusiasm; and
WHEREAS, during his service, he exemplified the fourteen Marine leadership traits
and thrived under the spartan conditions of the Marine Corps, learning the skills he would
need to be an outstanding Marine and a leader that his fellow Marines would follow and
admire; and
WHEREAS, LCpl. Cole was stationed at Bangor Naval Base; and
WHEREAS, he died on Saturday, June 9, 2018, as a result of a motor vehicle
accident in Gig Harbor, Washington; and
WHEREAS, LCpl. Cole was interred with full military honors at Louisiana National
Cemetery in Zachary, Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States
Marine Lance Corporal Cole Estelle for their immeasurable loss and wish to recognize him
for his service and for the great sacrifices he made on behalf of his country.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
family of Lance Corporal Cole Estelle.
