SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 195
BY SENATOR BARROW 
COMMENDATIONS.  To commend the Jehovah-Jireh High School boys basketball team
on winning the Division V state championship title.
1	A RESOLUTION
2 To commend the Jehovah-Jireh High School boys basketball team, the "Warriors", on
3 winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic Association Division V state
4 championship title.
5 WHEREAS, for the second time in the history of the boys basketball program at
6 Jehovah-Jireh High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, the team brought home the state
7 championship trophy with a win, once again over the Crescent City Pioneers in the Division
8 V championship game of the LHSAA Boys March Madness State Basketball Tournament
9 at Burton Coliseum in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on March 8, 2019; and
10 WHEREAS, the Warriors basketball members' desire to compete for the
11 championship trophy was accomplished under the guidance and leadership of their coach,
12 Dirk Ricks; and 
13 WHEREAS, the winning Jehovah-Jireh High School basketball team included four
14 seniors: Jaron Davis (#5), Timothy Jackson (#20), Jaxon Cobb (#24), and Antonio Williams
15 (#31): three juniors: Jayquan Davis (#3), Roderick Dominque (#11), and Shamar Parker
16 (#32): 1 sophomore: Brandon Harton, Jr. (#2), and the lone freshman: John-Paul Ricks (#4);
17 and 
18 WHEREAS, the championship game was an exceptional ending for the season with

1 a winning score of fifty-six to forty-five; and 
2 WHEREAS, the Warriors team is recognized for the well-deserved accolades earned
3 throughout the season and showcasing the extraordinary athletic abilities they have
4 displayed, particularly at the most difficult level of high school competition.
5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
6 does hereby express its sincere congratulations to the Jehovah-Jireh High School boys
7 basketball team and Coach Ricks for winning the 2019 Louisiana High School Athletic
8 Association Division V state championship title.
9 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
10 Coach Dirk Ricks in care of Jehovah-Jireh High School in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
