SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 229

COMMENDATIONS. Commends Francis Caldwell for being named 2019 Citizen of the
Year.
1 A RESOLUTION
2 To commend Francis Caldwell upon being named Citizen of the Year for 2019 by the
3 Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce.
4 WHEREAS, Francis Caldwell has lived in DeRidder, Louisiana, since 1955, where
5 she worked in real estate, maintaining her license until she was ninety years old; and
6 WHEREAS, while living in DeRidder, Mrs. Caldwell says that she "was always
7 honored to have been able to help people find good places to live," reflecting on her career
8 that spanned fifty years; and
9 WHEREAS, Glenda Dean, former president of the Beauregard Chamber of
10 Commerce and the leader credited with instituting the citizen of the year recognition during
11 her term, presented the award; and
12 WHEREAS, Ms. Dean gave a short speech, praising Mrs. Caldwell for her many
13 contributions to her community over the span of many years, saying that she spoke to so
14 many people and all had positive things to say about Mrs. Caldwell; and
15 WHEREAS, Dean also said "You follow great footsteps, but no one can hold a
16 candle to Francis Caldwell;" and
17 WHEREAS, Artie Carhee also spoke briefly, saying "it is our honor to give you this
18 award...I wish I could be more like you" continuing that Caldwell had "given her life to our

1 community"; and
2 WHEREAS, Mrs. Caldwell became emotional with all the praise, but she expressed
3 her gratitude for the award; and
4 WHEREAS, Francis Caldwell continued, saying "when we first moved here [to
5 Louisiana], I thought I'd move back to Texas. Well, all I can say is that something happens
6 to you when you move to Louisiana"; and
7 WHEREAS, celebrating her honor with her friends and a thankful community,
8 Francis Caldwell, laughed and visited with all those who came to the ceremony; and
9 WHEREAS, Francis Caldwell spent more than fifty years of her life finding the
10 perfect home for clients and contributing to her community in a meaningful way beyond her
11 efforts as a skilled realtor and impacted the lives of many beyond her real estate clients.
12 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
13 does hereby commend Francis Caldwell upon being named Citizen of the Year for 2019 by
14 the Greater Beauregard Chamber of Commerce.
15 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
16 Francis Caldwell at Westwood Manor in DeRidder.
